Hi Dave!

You are welcome to share the photo I posted on FB of the WHS ladies in your Class of ’73 West High emails and post it to our online photo album.

Bonnie hosted a spa for us and Brenda brought some great Arbonne products for us to share and make us even more radiant than we already are! (LOL) It was fun to laugh, talk and share all those fabulous school memories.

Some of us have been together since Kindergarten, so some memories went WAY back!

Take care,

Nancy

Missi Strub Update

Hi Dave,

I mosied up to Rhinebeck, NY this afternoon to see this great show, the Rhinebeck, NY Country Living Fair, full of lots of artists, antiques & fun! Pat Vaughan was here and his booth of specialty cargo bags made from Midwestern feed & grain sacks was truly spectacular!

(Webmaster note: if you are interested in seeing the bags, make sure you click on the “sold items” on the Etsy site.)

Looking forward to the reunion in July!

Best wishes,
Missi Strub

Dave Gerlits and Deb Dee

Deb Dee called me from the road late Sunday afternoon, and said she was 2 exits away from me on the interstate. Deb and I have both lived in Massachusetts for over 20 years, have corresponded by email, and had some nice long phone conversations, but had never managed to meet face to face.

Deb was driving back home from a workshop/training seminar in Providence RI taught by a graduate of the Barbara Brennan School of Healing. Brennan Healing Science is system of healing that combines hands-on healing techniques with spiritual and psychological processes touching every aspect of a person’s life.

When Deb called, Bobbi, Bessie, Isaiah and I were at McDonald’s, where we often take Isaiah to run, jump, and play on Sunday. I invited Deb to join us at the McDonald’s play place. Deb got to meet Bobbi, Bessie and Isaiah, and we had a lovely time talking energy healing, co-housing, and other topics that we were all interested in. Um, well, not Isaiah. He was having fun on the climbing, sliding, and jumping structures.

We were glad we finally were able to get together after all these years, and I was delighted to have her meet my family. We even made some tentative plans to get our moms together for a visit the week I’m out there for the reunion.

Kevin Megan Update

Hi Dave,

Kevin and Lynne here!

First off we hope Christmas was great, as it sounded like you had lots of family around and stayed busy! Lynnie mentioned you were interested in posting a recent pic of the Hirts and us from Tracy and Faye’s sons (Chase) wedding to the WH site. We had a great time getting caught up with the Hirtsko’s and it has been fun watching their kids grow up! Happy New Year to you, Bobbi and the kids! THANKS for all you do in keeping us all connected and engaged!

Pat Vaughan Update

Thanks for the update, Dave.  Gotta try that Cooling Yoga Breathing!

Also, I was in Iowa City briefly and met up with Kevin Kelly for a great night out!  We ate at The Vine and then closed down Graze in uptown IC.

We both want to encourage everyone to seriously consider getting your colonoscopy done and getting a shingles vaccination (55 yrs. and older are now approved for it.)

Best,

Patrick

Betsy Elliott Stough Update

Hey Dave!

Look what I learned how to do…finally!   I texted this photo to my email!!!

Liz Skaugstad Baker and Betsy Elliott Stough …Iowa City…Jan. 2011

Finally, I’m getting this photo to you, from our quick meeting in January, in Iowa City.

Earlier in April, I got together with Brenda Bradley, Steve Riggan, Linda Vedepo, Deb Barnes, Bonnie Weldon, and Mike Paul (class ahead of ours) at Delago restaurant (that’s Bonnie’s restaurant).

Hope your feeling all better from your recent eye issues, and that all is well.

Bill Ackerman Music Update

Dave-  Just a quick note on the music scene in Iowa City, pardon the pun.

Last evening, and most 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month a small group of us get together to hear the Burlington Street Bluegrass Band perform at the Mill.  Performances are from 7 to 10 and one never knows who will show up.

Last evening at the table next to “our group” was Paul Roberts, who plays on and off with the group.  This is not unusual, but also at his table was a former classmate who he introuduced to me.  It was Jackie Dague.  Later in the evening she entertained the crowd with wonderful singing and guitar playing, just great to listen to.  Paul Roberts and her also did a song or two. One would think she was part of the band all the time.  Janet Lackender was also performing, and is married to Mark Wilson, who is a permanent part of the band.  A great evening of music and West High attendance.

I hope Jackie sees it in her schedule to return again to the Mill venue.  It was truly a great evening.

Hope all is well.

Pat Vaughan and Ted Hyde Update

Patrick and Ted. Nice get together at the Jazz Club

Hi Dave – Ted is living in Orange County an hour south of where I am in Burbank. We met up at one of Ted’s favorite haunts – Spaghettini Grill & Lounge in Seal Beach – cool and happening jazz bar http://www.spaghettini.com/. We discussed love, life, politics, ex wives and ex girlfriends, former jobs, family and the merits of his ten day fast. Being on day number five, he drank only tea and watched me eat a very nice dish of spaghetti and meat balls.

Also, we revisited some of our adventures together including our summer working on a dude ranch in Colorado (Jay Dinsmore also participated.) Ted reminded me of our misadventures hitchhiking including being picked up by a drunk Indian (native am) just outside of Ship Rock, NM and having to dive out of the back of the El Camino to escape certain death (see map to know this desert area was not a good idea for hitchhiking in the first place http://tinyurl.com/4qqmsl9). Ted looks really good and I hope to take him to my favorite Chinese Dim Sum restaurant soon.
