Dave and Becky are Officially Grandparents (We stifle a GROAN!)
On October 1, 1999 at 12:10am Rebekah Marie Tate joined the World Community with her mother, Lily Way, and father, James Tate in attendance. Jim’s appearance was voluntary.
Rebekah (or, as we wantonly corrupt the name after an appropriate time, Bekah) arrived at 6 lbs. 14 oz. and 20-1/4″ after a 16 hour labor during which the value of Lamaze training was called to question and calls home to Mom were deemed useless in the realm of “kiss and make it better”.
Rebekah, Mom, Dad, Grandma and Grandpa (shudder) are living happily as the Iowa City Great Adventure continues through another generation. It might also be worth noting that the birth of this baby makes our 5-year-old son, Kevin, an uncle!
Thank you, God, for the gift of another life!

For those of you that are Hawkeye football fans, Colin Cole is a senior in high school in South Plantation, Florida and was recruited to play football for Iowa next year. This year he won the high school wrestling championship at heavyweight. Last year he placed third as a junior.

Thanks for the work you have done putting this web site together. I’m proud to see that our class continues to stay on the “cutting edge”.
I am a veterinarian practicing at Cass Veterinary Services in Virginia, Illinois. My family and I recently moved to Illinois to pursue this job opportunity working with larger swine confinement operations. I still enjoy working on most domesticated species, (cows, horses, sheep, dogs, cats, llamas, ferrets, etc.) but the pigs are a larger part of the practice. I guess I’m in animal family practice.
We do have a web site at: www.casscomm.com/~cassvet You are welcome to take a visit.

I had a chance to talk to Bob Funk who has an account on America Off Line. He got married, still has some sculptures in his garage, worked as a LPN for a number of years before going back to school and getting licensed as a RN. He has been active as a union leader at his hospital.
Robin Shapiro still is a social worker here in Seattle.
I last saw Betsy Hale a few years ago. I had a chance to interview for an office manager/web page designer/technical writing position last summer for a landscape architecture firm and told her husband (a architect) about it in case one of his friends was in the market.

Please keep me informed of your reunion plans. I would be honored to attend. Your class was very special to me.
After this year I will be the last original West High teacher that hasn’t retired. I plan on teaching 5 more years after this, so I should still be here when you have your reunion. Make sure you notify Ed Barker, because he really enjoys attending all the reunions. I’ll be looking forward to hearing from you in the future.
(From Dave Gerlits: Special thanks to Keith Gormèzano for getting in touch with Randall!)

I moved to Cincinnati the summer after 8th grade, but came back to watch you all graduate. Was in Kansas City for 16 years…now in Cleveland. Thanks, Bonnie for tracking me down. Can’t wait to read the news from everyone.
